The fountain in Trafalgar Square before it got dark.

Finishing touches being put to the Square before the honoured guests arrive!

Another Ambassador, Vanessa and me.

Ambassadors preparing the mince pies and drinks for their colleagues!
(I am supposed to be helping too, but was too busy taking pictures instead!!) :o)

Fellow Ambassadors begin to arrive for the big event.

It soon grows to a sea of magenta coats and hats.

Guess who is enjoying herself too much??? :o)

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, opening the concert with a few words of welcome and cheer for Team London!

The Centre for Young Musicians Choir singing "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" in beautiful harmony.

Night descends, and the fountain has turned pink to match our uniforms!
I spent the most awesome afternoon listening to carols sung by Jonathan and Charlotte , worthy runners up of Britain's Got Talent, and the Centre for Young Musicians Choir. They all sounded positively angelic!
The exclusive concert was given in honour of Team London Ambassadors, of which I am a volunteer, as a special 'thank you' for contribution to the Olympic Games and what we have done since, as we will now be representing London in various capacities for the next few years.
London Mayor, Boris Johnson, brimming with pride and delight, and to a rousing welcome, opened the event with a short speech of how wonderful we all were and the great things planned for us next year. The concert itself started with Silent Night by the youth choir, then Jonathan and Charlotte sang a couple from their new album: Rule the World and The Prayer, and finally joined the choir to end the programme with my favourite, O Holy Night and the very popular, O Come all Ye faithful.
Tons of Ambassadors in their distinctive magenta uniforms turned out to enjoy the concert and a few helped with giving out mince pie and drinks to the crowd. There was the most amazing feeling of joy and comradeship among the Ambassadors on this very cold afternoon, and when the cold really bit us, we all hugged each other for warmth and sang along too. A truly magical spirit. The Olympics have certainly left a tremendous legacy for us.
This event was well worth braving the cold to experience and we're all looking forward to weaving our 'magenta magic' at other events in 2013. :o)
