The early voting edge is indeed going to the Democratic Party thus far this year, although not to as great of an extent as 2008. In Iowa, North Carolina and Nevada, Democrats are building a notable lead, while the race is even in the crucial swing states of Ohio and Florida, and the Republican Party holds a slight lead in Colorado.
In Iowa, 44.6% of the ballots cast so far have been Democratic, followed by Republicans with 32%, and lastly Independents, with 23.2%. Nevada has 45% Democratic votes so far, followed by Republicans (37%) and Independents (18%). North Carolina? 48.3% Democrat, 31.9% Republican, 19.9% Independent.
