Former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks and her husband Charlie are to be charged with perverting the course of justice during the phone-hacking scandal.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that they, along with four others, will face charges for conspiring to hide material from police.

Mr and Mrs Brooks branded the decision as 'weak and unjust' as they prepared to visit a police station to post bail.
