A Utah woman who conspired to sell her then 13-year-old daughter’s virginity for $10,000 has been sentenced to prison.

The woman, who is unnamed to protect her daughter’s identity, is set to serve anywhere from one to fifteen years in jail.

Last year, she pleaded guilty to the second-degree felony of sexual exploitation of a minor, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Wow !!!

Words do not explain what I think of a woman like that. She should be thankful it was not one of my daughters or grand daughters that she attempted that with.

She is sorry ?? What sorry she got caught ?? POS is not fit to be in society. Hang her !!! She tried to do something that leads to more children being harmed in the long run, because the creeps feel like people are alright with their doing it !!!

I hate their behaviors and would have no problem having them die !!!

The real question should be who is the man known only as 'Don.'? Since he seems to have gotten away with it he is probably out there looking for another junkie mom with a young daughter.

Exactly! No wonder we get the society we have when men tend to get off scott free for everything while the women carry the can. He is even worse than the mother and will still be preying on other young girls, and seems free to continue!!

No he's not. You expect a pervert to act like a pervert. You don't expect a mom to whore out her daughter. This guy didn't have the responsibility to protect this girl, the mother did.

He's a bad guy but the mother is worse.

isn't there something lopsided there when they are both guilty?

Well I think both of them are as evil as evil can be. I'd have no problem seeing both of them die.

Not to satisfy some hatred, but to protect more children. Every creep who is guilty of child sexual abuse, and I mean this, should forfeit their life for it. They have destroyed the life of the child, why should they continue to be able to live ??

This may not be popular. I really don't give a rat's as*. Child molestors are the scum of the earth !!!

You get the impression that they don't know who he is and didn't catch him. It's also possible they don't have enough evidence to convict him unless they cut mom a deal to testify.

I doubt it is as simple as it is not considered a crime to solict sex from 13 year olds in Utah.

Jail has proven to improve those coming out of it right... and second I dont mean to be a jerk but its wrong to ASSume what other nations would be doing. Its wrong to ASSUME that they would be barbaric to the girl in the Middle East.. dont be afraid or hide behind initials...say it. Lastly I would suggest you educate yourself about the COUNTRIES there ...and not just generalize the entire region and say they would all stone a child in the streets. True or not you dont KNOW for fact, and second if we are going to generalize then it would be a safe assumption on other coutries parts to think that we all try and sell our children to sex pervs.... Generalizations only point to ignorance, and they NEVER apply to EVERYONE in an area...especially the entire ME... please do your homework before ranting out a generalized statement about a place you dont fully know about. Thank you.

      http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7708169.stm

(Human rights group Amnesty International says the victim was a 13-year-old girl who had been raped.)

When you get off your high horse, throw me a line.

And that's just one of many readily available examples of barbaric treatment of women and girls in the Middle East (the one on Earth in 2102).

I am with you as far as the mother, I mean something more than a year at the very least, but would it help her? ...probably not. I think her broken goes all the way down to the core, maybe because she never got the skills needed to be a parent from her parents, that should be obviously. Who knows...drugs, bad up bringing...needing money whatever the reason its no excuse for her free willed actions.

That said I am not cool with stoning a child ... Ive seen child abuse up close growing up and it showed me 2 things, the first was there is a better way to teach, second I will not repeat the cycle by procreating and taking the chance I do something like what I was exposed to growing up.

In doing that I have not brought suffering to an innocent, but instead had to watch stories like these about people who prolly had the same crap upbringing OR WORSE and are now adults "breeding" and perpetuating a sad cycle of abuse. I am now to a point where I do feel there should be some kind of classes or licence required to create life because it seems people doing it dont know how that LIFE is supposed to be respected, loved and cared for.

Correct, Brent. They are stoning women and girls for various reasons in the middle east (including Israel).

But you do realize that the third world isn't just the middle east? The fact remains that th is happened HERE, in a first world nation. And we have people that, instead of condemning it, prefer to make their first priority pointing fingers at middle easterners.

I hate when people shove words in my mouth.. I never disagreed with you about things happening there (the middle east) my point was simply that you cannot make a genralized statement about everyone or every country there because the statement wouldnt be true or accurate. Horrible things happen there I wont deny that or disagree, but they happen here just as often and are just as disgusting.

I then simply pointed out that since you feel its ok to generalize about an entire region, that it would be okay for them to do the same about our country and say that as a general rule we sell our daughters when they turn thirteen..and we all know thats just not true or even close to accurate. I dont need to enlighten myself as I am a woman and have been through and seen this crap my whole life. I know what it means to be a woman and I know what it means to be a woman born in this country. Im not on a high horse, just I dont like when people generalize an entire region as if they knew what each person in such a vast area could be thinking well enough to say its how an entire area felt...I know it exists and I know that over there its a sad way of life, but dont go so far as to say everyone there agrees with that belief system...unless you are willing to be stereo typed and pigeon holed yourself. That is the only point I was making...not that horrible things dont happen, but thank you for trying to put words into my mouth in an attempt to make yourself seem wise, by misconstruing what I was saying.

I posted a link as an example of the exact behavior I mentioned in the region I mentioned and provided you a search tool for more.

Yes, I took offense to your initial comment. Re-read 4.2 and tell me you didn't intend to insult me.

To declare an ENTIRE area i.e. the ME as you put it, is what I was opposed to...and yes I was offended at your narrow minded opinion of an ENTIRE region.

Just because you can point to an example in the past of something they HAVE done, doesnt mean you have any right to ASSume how they would deal with something like this now.... its narrow minded ignorance, and yes I take issue with that especially when you twist what I say to again try and make your point. I NEVER said they werent above being barbaric, no human is was my point...location had nothing to do with that fact.

Your last statement again points to my issue with you... Middle easterners ... do you even realize how many countries are there and just how many people you are speaking about ...then to be so arrogant as to state how they all feel is ignorant on your part, and a generalization. One you know not from any first hand expierence, no just simply your own spoon fed view of what ALL people think..its nieve on your part at best. Your version of reality hardly counts as truth so no sorry needed as it didnt bother me in the slightest, just showed your narrow, ignorant and rude assumption about an entire region on earth... Again for the slow, I have no doubt bad crap happens there...but you are fooling yourself to think that because you live in America we are above disgusting, barbaric acts. Second you have no right to generalize an entire group of people because it suits your arguement to say they are cool with stoning people.

I do not deny they need to educate themselves...but I dont fool myself into believing that people here arent above the same inhuman disgust... study your countries history, you may be shocked at what you learn, because they arent the only ones that need to learn a few things I can assure you..you are a shining example of just how nieve or just blind Americans choose to be sometimes.

Seriously speaking. . . Just WHAT is wrong with our sick society today? That a child's mother, of all people, would consider selling/forcing her 13-year-old into prostitution. But considering the absolute SLOP purveyed by Hollywood and the entertainment industry in general, is this mother really that shocking or surprising?

Rape goes back thousands and thousands of years. Sadly, that includes the raping of children. How far back do you think Hollywood goes? What did people "hang it on" thousands or hundreds of years ago?

      Do morals matter any more?

Yes, thankfully they do - which is why this woman was arrested and people are outraged. However, morality includes assigning responsibility properly: placing the responsibility for someone's own actions upon them and not trying to pin them on anything but BUT him/her.

Im more upset at the idea this woman/ breeder faces anywhere from ONE to fifteen years. . . I dont think one year is punishment enough for such an act. This was her child, an INNOCENT that was created by this woman to protect, love and nurture until such time as she can do it for herself and was deemed an adult.

So why then was there any mercy granted here? For such a woman that created a life so that at thirteen she could then use that child for financial gain!!!..and to support her pill popping habit. I am disgusted, pissed, and fed up with those blessed with the GIFT of children pissing it away and in such barbaric, self serving way ... disgusting, let the punishment fit the crime... subject her to all the embarrassing, perverted, and gross things she subjected her daughter to for a year.... thats a start, then give her time in prison to get aquainted with the ladies there. Im sure they can explain why it is wrong to make women objects or treat them as if they were a piece of meat... a commodity to be traded to the highest bidder. This kinda stuff makes it VERY hard to see any GOOD left in humanity, when mothers are selling their children as sex toys for perverts, what have we been reduced to as a species and what exactly makes us different from the animals again...some one PLEASE remind me, because the line is extremely blurry at the moment :(

I think it would give potential pedophiles a legal way to get their rocks off. Maybe instead of the 13 year old they would find an 18 year old who looks like a 13 year old.

I wouldn't sleep with a juvenile but I sure as hell would pay for sex with an adult if it was legal and safe. I think its ridiculous for prostitutes to be arrested over and over again for conducting a business that is illegal because of morality issues. Imagine the United States if morality was taken out of the equation when it came to laws.

Absolutely. We don't do that in Britain anymore. We even have safe houses, and safe areas, for them. After all, if there wasn't a demand they wouldn't be providing a service. Furthermore, there are increasingly many single people without sex, which is a normal human function.

Perhaps this woman's future cellmate will pimp her out for the duration of her sentence.

The "I had a rough childhood and should be excused for breaking the law or I was on drugs and can't be held responsible for my actions" excuses has been played out to the max! There is NO excuse for what this woman tried to do to her daughter. Thank goodness the woman's boyfriend put a stop to it before the "deal" was done!!!

I agree Outrageous, theres always some excuse people have for behaving hideously...its old. When will people be accountable or responsible for their own actions?

...It is my wish too that she have a beefy woMAN to cell with to maybe show her what kinda stuff happens when your will is taken away, or you have no say in your destiny and others use you to profit.

Lastly, its a sad day when a man has to save a woman from THIS kinda stuff. You would think as a woman to another woman this could never happen, but wait ..along comes a story about a woman doing this to her own child... and being saved by not a relative but the boyfriend of the childs own mother, it seems he had more compassion than the mom... sad, just sad.

I would like to know why the government thinks it has the right to interfere with, regulate, and convict this woman in her attempt to market, sell, and profit from her products????

Damn it all to to hell you damn filthy apes do not interfere with business.

Conservatism now and conservatism always. The woman could have just as easliy discontinued production of this unit.

Conservatism has nothing to do with this.

          yes i missed

perhaps you missed the satire, the idea that regulation is not needed, or the idea that the mother didn't have an abortion instead

and yes conservatism has everything to do with it. the conservative agenda is to dictate and interject itself only in issues, commercial, moral, and otherwise where their agenda is intended to thrive and divide

you see words, humor, sarcasm, and irony illustrate by changing perspective

but you both are right i failed miserably and i will never post again....goodbye cruel vine...sour are the grapes of their wrath...

I saw the satire, I just didn't think it was very funny. Good luck with posting on another site.
