It wasn’t entirely unexpected for Saturday Night Live to poke fun at the Super Bowl in some manner - though it has been nearly a week since the big game, it was the first opportunity the late-night comedy show had to make commentary on it.
Not surprisingly, they chose to parody Clint Eastwood’s much-debated Chrysler commercial, which struck a sour chord in many conservatives’ mouths for its political overtones about the auto industry and America making a comeback from the recession.
The SNL parody shows veteran comedian Bill Hader as Clint Eastwood, making several blatantly political statements about the president and the GOP hopefuls before being reminded that the advert is supposed to be about cars.

I wondered when they would be turning their attention to this. :o)

Very disappointed with SNL. They could have done so much with this ad and they chickened out and chose to make fun of Eastwood instead of the insanely comical right wing nut cases. What a lame cop out. No wonder this show hasn't had an edge in 20 years. If only the original cast had gotten hold of that material. Belushi, Akroyd, Morris, Murray, Radner, Curtin. The skit would not have been so sanitized.
