Michelle Obama had better watch her behind - quite literally - as she seems to have found herself an enemy in Republican Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner.
The Wisconsin governor was allegedly heard talking very loudly on his cell phone about the First Lady's posterior, which he described as 'large'.
He even had some words of advice for Mrs Obama to get rid of said 'large posterior', and that was to practice what she preaches.
'Michelle Obama has a large posterior': Rep Jim Sensenbrenner thinks the First Lady doesn't practice what she preaches

What a ridiculously STUPID thing to say...I didn't even have to look to see that he is a Republican to guess.
Even beyond that, using a cell phone loud enough to be overheard in a public area...well, that just confirms my 'ridiculously stupid' assessment !!

Yes he wanted a Democratic "operative" to hear his conversation
A Democratic operative, who said he heard the conversation, told FishbowlDC that he was talking to someone about an incident that occurred three weeks ago at an Episcopal church auction.

Yes, this is disgusting and I also find it very disturbing when Congress, and especially men, think they can make the decision about birth control and a woman's right to chose. I say, it is none of their damn business. There are so many other discussions they should be having, like men practising self-control, ie, looking at the Presidents wife and making comments.

#1:How low will these people sink in their narrow minded sexist prejudices and boorish behaviour? :o)
Oh dear, please don't be amazed or surprised! They haven't come close to the bottom yet.
I see this as one of the rather nicest/nastiest- if not at the same time the most vulgar- things they can say about The First Lady. I am sure they want to say something that is absolutely rude and despicable but that no one can print!
I am also sure that they wish their "wives or mates/partners/significant others" had an asxxe like The First Lady and they could only touch it! Perverts!
They are holding their breaths as they let this "complimentary bit" ooze out of their scummy mouths. Remember, they have no gauge on manners or respect because they have no teachings on the subjects.

Pervert would be the person talking about grabbing a woman's ass - Which was never even mentioned in the story

@Boston,
Sir, it can hardly be considered a private conversation when out in a public location such as a AIRPORT..
This politician has been in the political arena long enough to know that there are reporters and other political affiliates watching and listening. Especially when out in public. Just accept that what he said was inappropiate and move on.

Only those who are not concerned with their children's health would complain.

Ask all Republicans and their politicians who's lady has a butt, or body for that matter, that compares to Michelle's. Baby's got back! (I thinks that's how that saying goes.) And I think Michelle sports her posterior just fine. Michelle Bachmann and or Sarah Palin can't come even close.

Does the person who wrote the article really know that he's talking about Sensenbrenner? He refers to him as 'Wisconsin Governor'. Sensenbrenner has never been the governor of Wisconsin. He then states that Sensenbrenner was 'allegedly' heard on his cell phone which means somebody heard one half of a conversation:
The Wisconsin governor was allegedly heard talking very loudly on his cell phone about the First Lady's posterior, which he described as 'large'.
This is shaky at best. It may be true, but there are not a lot of facts at this point. Lots of unsubstantiated rumor though. Always good for the left to run with.

I don't want to sound sexist, but all of the ladies have large butts. And, as one hetro man who speaks honestly, we all LOVE IT! Notwithstanding the overt sexism of that statement, Mrs. Obama has an excellent figure; maybe not worthy of fashion model, but they are usually so skinny, they would blow away in a breeze storm. I find it appalling that this member of Congress, who is obviously not a workout guru, would criticize the First Lady for his own flaws. To do so loudly, in a cell phone conversation (or, any other conversation) is worse than sexism; I really don't know what to call it, so I will leave that for the ladies herein.

To be fair, he was criticizing her for hypocrisy, not for a fat ass per se.
Not that her ass is particularly fat. I'd say above average for the typical 47 year old female.

I agree grumpy jon, comparative to men, women do. Those who think First Lady Michelle's is inordinately large are just partisan hacks... she is perfectly within the range proportional to her height and weight, IMHO. But what if she wasn't? I am grateful I don't belong to a party that takes pleasure in tearing down a woman based on an accident of marriage, or their teenaged daughters...
By the way, Sensenbrenner, you could fit the equivalent of 8 of her butts into your sausage laden gut and thats a conservative estimate...

Also one must take in her genetic history. She is a black woman. We are famous for several body types. This is true no matter what ethnicity you are. Each ethnicity tends to run to 2 or 3 standard body types. With black women, one of those is large thighs and buttocks. Is Mrs. Obama hippy? Yeah, she sure is. Does she have a large arse? Yep she sure does. Is that one of the typical body types, yes it sure is. Is she obese, overweight, or in any case outside the norm? Nope, not a bit.
She looks fine and apparently Mr. President thinks she looks more than fine. As long as she is healthy and happy, then Sensenbrenner needs to shut up.

As to fairy tails...
Federal employment (from the OPM, in thousands)
2000 4,129
2004 4,187
2008 4,206
2010 4,443
http://www.opm.gov/feddata/HistoricalTables/TotalGovernmentSince1962.asp
Or as politifact.com would say...
...employment statistics posted online by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Sure enough, between February 2009, Obama’s first full month in office, and June 2010, the number of private-sector jobs dropped from 110.3 million to 107.7 million, a decrease of nearly 2.7 million. In the same period, the number of federal government workers rose from 2,792,000 to 3,171,000, an increase of 379,000.
Next, we contacted the BLS for more detail on the employment numbers.
Not counting the temporary census workers leaves 46,000 other federal workers added on Obama’s watch.
Disregarding postal workers, who the BLS advises aren’t paid with federal tax aid, the number of federal workers through most of Bush’s presidency hovered around 1.9 million before passing 2 million in May 2008, according to the bureau. After Obama took over, the number of federal workers reached 2.2 million in April 2009, then dipped to 2.1 million by June 2009 before inching up to top 2.3 million in April 2010. There was a sizable one-month bump, to 2.7 million federal workers in May 2010, though the non-postal federal workforce dropped to 2.5 million in June 2010 and to less than 2.4 million in July.
Obama has shrunk government employment, thanks for the laugh.

Its healthier to carry weight in your lower extremities than in the upper areas where it can surround organs and clog heart arteries.
Having junk in your trunk is healthier than a spare tire around the gut, new research suggests. The extra padding on the backside and thighs could even help to protect against disease.

In case anybody is wondering why the name "Sensenbrenner" sounds familiar:
On June 17, 2005, Sensenbrenner, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, abruptly ended a meeting where Republicans and Democrats were supposed to be debating the renewal of the USA PATRIOT Act and walked out in response to Democratic members raising issues regarding human rights violations at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay and the ongoing Iraq war. He ordered the court reporter to halt transcriptions of the proceedings, C-SPAN cameras covering the meeting be shut off, and that discussion on the issue be halted. Sensenbrenner defended his actions by claiming that the Democrats and witnesses had repeatedly violated House rules in discussing issues he believed to be unrelated to the subject of the meeting.[9] His abrupt walkout was contrary to House parliamentary procedure, which is to adjourn either on motion or without objection. Political journalist Matt Taibbi described the incident in a profile of the 109th Congress published around October 2006: "Last year, Sensenbrenner became apoplectic when Democrats who wanted to hold a hearing on the Patriot Act invoked a little-known rule that required him to let them have one. "Naturally, he scheduled it for something like 9 a.m. on a Friday when Congress wasn't in session, hoping that no one would show," recalls a Democratic staffer who attended the hearing. "But we got a pretty good turnout anyway." Sensenbrenner kept trying to gavel the hearing to a close, but Democrats again pointed to the rules, which said they had a certain amount of time to examine their witnesses. When they refused to stop the proceedings, the chairman did something unprecedented: He simply picked up his gavel and walked out. "He was like a kid at the playground," the staffer says. And just in case anyone missed the point, Sensenbrenner shut off the lights and cut the microphones on his way out of the room. Commenting on Sensenbrenner's actions on The Daily Show, comedian Jon Stewart said, "Oh my God, he literally took his gavel and went home; we are officially being governed by children."

Does the governor of Wisconsin realize that it is part of his responsibility to enforce Title VII? If remarks like this were made in the workplace, he would be sued. Title VII includes physical features like skin color and what is common to a particular ethnicity. Most Black women and men no matter their size of the remainder of their body have large derrieres. It is about protecting the spine. Others may have large caves for the same purpose. The legs are the strongest parts of the body. They can take a lot of shock. The spine cannot. There needs to be a shock absorber/buffer to protect the spine. Thus nature created large caves and/or derrieres. Most mammals have large derrieres. Most physical features are to adopt to environment, surroundings, climate...

Let us look at it from my viewpoint. I am a butt man. My wife's butt is bigger. It is perfect. She is not fat. This is from 39 years of watching it. Almost married for 39 years. There is a difference between a big butt and a fat butt. Neither concern me because the personality is more important. This is a politician nitpicking and grasping at straws to demean someone to make himself look good. It is not working.
To every aspiring politician, judge people as to who they are and not what they are. Stop and think before you open your mouth.

There could be not an ounce of fat on Mrs. Obama's behind and it still look the same in shape ! Bone structure , length of tendon and ligament which holds muscle mass and the mass of muscle it's self ...... and of course some fat ( for we need it in our posterior ... cushioning ! ) all predisposed.

Would you hire a fat fitness trainer? Would you take fitness advice from that trainer?
THAT is pointing out the obvious.

These people have attained fitness @ levels the AVERAGE person never will. Flo Jo, a woman, could run a 40 about as fast as a MALE NCAA Football player.........And she did it @ age 30. What AVERAGE woman do you know that can do that? HINT, to this day, no other woman in track and field has broken her records, so even the current crop of world class female runners cant hit that mark either....much less an average woman.
Lynn Swann was a pro football player and Arnold was a pro Body builder. They spent their lifetimes training for their respective Activies, and they made a living doing it which makes it easier to devote the time needed to attain that level of fitness.
Even me, as a FORMER track and field athlete (college level), its way easier for me to get back into the habit of working out than someone who doesnt like sports and doesnt play outside much to begin with. I can still run a mile in under 6 mins and I havent competed in 7 years.
- 4 votes
These people have attained fitness @ levels the AVERAGE person never will
Which is exactly why they were appointed to the Presidents Council on Physical Fitness.
Until 2010, that is.

@ tobii
If a person doesnt not believe they will ever achieve a certain fitness level they wont try it. Now, having somone who is amazingly talented telling them "you can do it" is not good motivation either. They have NEVER had a problem being fit because they actually like to do the things that help a person get and stay fit, AND it comes natural to them.
Flo JO wouldnt motivate most women because most women dont look like she did. Mrs. Obama is much more relatable.
Being fit is relative to body type. Not perception. Shaq being in shape is about 300 lbs. For someone who is a foot shorter, 300 lbs is obese.

Once again, would you listen to fitness advice from an overweight personal trainer?

Michelle is not over weight. That is how you perceive her. AND its common knowledge that butt fat is hard to loose and can most often only be toned. You cant shrink the roundess of your butt anymore than you can increase your ankle size. Its pretty much preditermined.
If I had ever been over weight, I could relate better to a trainer who has lost a massive amount and is now a trainer vs a trainer who has never had a weight problem. Hence the reason people like Jennifer Hudson (who used to be pretty heavy) are used in Jenny Craig commercials vs. Mary Kate or Ashley Oslin...
Its also the reason you dont see someone like Usain Bolt in a shape up shoes commerical. He's already in shape and it aint because of the shoes.
- 6 votes
AND its common knowledge that butt fat is hard to loose and can most often only be toned. You cant shrink the roundess of your butt anymore than you can increase your ankle size. Its pretty much preditermined
And yet you reference Jennifer Hudson who has changed ALL of that through diet and exercise - AND having a baby! Great Job! She shed 80+ lbs - yet, according to you, she shouldn't have been able to do that. You realize you just discredited your own post?
Jennifer used to be a size 16 and now is down to a size 4 or 6.
- 2 votes
tobii, Yes Jennifer did lose alot of weight, but you failed to list that her diet was Jenny Craig, not limiting carbs, sweets or anything on her own. Have you ever checked out the cost of Jenny Craig? It is very expensive and out of reach for the average middle class American. You are digging deeper and deeper, keep it up.

You call the wife of the President a fat butt for what reason? You make fun of her for what reason? How many in our country are too fat? If Michelle Obama is trying to get our kids to eat better and be more healthy what is wrong with that?
Is there anything that your ilk has done to help, encourage or in any way be helpful to the majority of the country? The answer is NO, so why don't just leave Michelle Obama alone and work on your ilk's fat butts in Congress who could use your scrutiny and advice.

You call the wife of the President a fat butt for what reason?
Rather obvious. Sky is blue, grass is green, water is wet, her ass is fat. All obvious things.
If Michelle Obama is trying to get our kids to eat better and be more healthy what is wrong with that?
She should be LEADING BY EXAMPLE.
We have her telling Restaurants what to serve on their menu - LINK
Obama launched the Let's Move! campaign to fight childhood obesity, and has challenged restaurants to offer more healthful menu items.
But here we are, ignoring the obvious that she is overweight!
Pardon me for pointing out the obvious, but Jim Sensebrenner isn't telling everybody what they should and shouldn't eat, now, is he?
Did he throw out the Food Pyramid and replace it with "MyPlate"?
"The new design, called MyPlate, was conceived as a crucial part of Mrs. Obama's campaign against obesity, designed to remind consumers about the basics of a healthful diet,"
And this is being recommended by someone with a huge posterior?
Amazing that we have women looking for the "How to have Arms like Michelle" workouts - where are the "How to have an ass like Michelle" workouts?
68.3% of America is overweight or obese - and we have someone with an ass like that telling US what we should or shouldn't be eating?
If you are going to LEAD an organization promoting healthy diets and physical fitness, you should be leading by example - not by being the stereotypical "average American".

the fact of the matter is Michelle Obama is a beautiful women. And many people especially of Black and Latino origin have a genetic propensity towards a higher riding gluteus maximus where those of European origin do not ( aka a flat ass ) no amount of diet or exercise will change either !

My apologies Ripley, I posted the pic while MikeBanks and abolish taxes started fondling themselves thinking they were gonna get a peep show of a female.
So when abolish taxes saw my chest and shoulder, he had his "Crying Game" moment and, as most prepubescent teenagers do, flew into a fit of rage and starting spewing accusations and denials (as you can see by his posts)
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Ripley - and Michelle needs to lose weight if she's going to "talk the talk".
Simple reality here - you don't take fitness advice from a fat trainer any more that you get child care advice from Casey Anthony.

Regarding post 1.116
You are absolutely correct ,but also remember she has had two children a women's pelvic area expands for the baby to pass down the birth canal. It does not go back to where it was, and not to mention genetics DO play a part.
Michelle Obama is a first class lady. She is graceful, elegant and beautiful inside and out. She genuenly cares about the health of children.
Michelle Obama is a very classy Lady, 100%.
- 8 votes
but also remember she has had two children a women's pelvic area expands for the baby to pass down the birth canal
And that is why mother nature gave women hips and padding around them to protect them during childbirth. There are too many C sections due to women having narrow smaller hips and not being able to go through natural childbirth. The padding and hips are also there to protect women from the act that gets them pregnant. I won't go into detail.
Yes she is a classy lady. The GOP continues to try to tar and feather her.

It's unfortunate that you are disillusioned by svelte models and lack knowledge of ethnic women's genetic features. By saying she needs to lose weight you have shown that you probably need to listen more to her, physicians, and nutritionists on what a healthy diet is for each body type.
- 6 votes
It's unfortunate that you are disillusioned by svelte models and lack knowledge of ethnic women's genetic features.
Yes beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and ethnic men do not see skinny as beauty. Models are skinny so that they do not take away attention from the clothes they are wearing. They are basically a human clothes hanger. To me, women being so skinny is another oppression as barefoot and pregnant.

You can use your "diagnosis" as an excuse - or a reason. The choice is yours.
This thread is about Michelle Obama's "large posterior" while she is directing the rest of the US about their diet and physical fitness.
In your current shape, Ripley, would you consider yourself qualified to be a Fitness Spokesperson and give advice to everyone about diet and Physical Fitness?

fluid overload , edema , isn't a result of calorie intake. My caloric intake is less than 2000 a day. No Xmas dinner here in my home other than a couple of chicken breasts and brussel sprouts ! dessert ? I have some sugar free cookies that are probably stale by now !
I pity you however. to be that concerned , spiteful ,hateful , over Michelle Obama who is fit and beautiful actually points to your own insecurity about your own body.

have you ever seen a person who is bloated because of failing kidneys
Were they appointed to tell you what you and your children should or shouldn't eat?
THAT is the discussion.
If you are appointed to the President's Council on Physical Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, you shouldn't have a HUGE ASS while telling other people what they should and should eat!
Listening to an overweight person telling you what you should and shouldn't eat?
While we're at it, why don't we ask for marital advice from OJ Simpson? Perhaps Child Care suggestions from Casey Anthony?
actually points to your own insecurity about your own body.

What was the title of this thread? How true is it?
'Michelle Obama has a large posterior': Rep Jim Sensenbrenner thinks the First Lady doesn't practice what she preaches
Does she have a large posterior? Why, yes she does.
Does she practice what she preaches? Why, no, she doesn't, because she has a large posterior.

Geez Louise. We get it. You don't like black girls butts. Save for starvation and malnutrition she ain't going to lose that muscle mass. She's healthy, she's in shape and no doctor worth their weight in gold wouldn't give her the thumbs up on her weight.

Exactly ohiogal. It's obvious and pathetic that anyone would make a statement like that.

- 7 votes
America gave her husband a well-paying job? Epic fail and a lie.......he was elected, legally and fairly. And despite the worst efforts of the Republicans throwing all they can amass at him, he will be elected again.
He had numerous well-jobs before that election, and became a millionaire best-selling author and tops it off with a Nobel Peace Prize that was gained through a history of actions that most Americans aren't even aquainted with as being part of his worth, deservedly so. I understand that he even gave the prize money to charity.
It is such a shame that trite and unimportant personal bashings have to come from the rightwing as part of their effort to discredit any and everything the Obamas do or have done.
One thing that surely does not escape my notice is that they are too far above the pettiness to allow it to have any negative impact on them.
So far, all I have seen from the Obamas is that they truly love America, their native land. Nothing else seems to matter.
- 14 votes
So you don't believe he was elected by Americans, or you don't think he is raking in the dough?
Nobel peace prize, giggle.
Newt Gingrich is a millionaire best-selling author too. For that matter, so was Adolph Hitler.

You're not the first one to make that observation:
The GOP's "take that, bitch" approach to governing has been taken to the greatest heights by the House Judiciary Committee. The committee is chaired by the legendary Republican monster James Sensenbrenner Jr., an ever-sweating, fat-fingered beast who wields his gavel in a way that makes you think he might have used one before in some other arena, perhaps to beat prostitutes to death. Last year, Sensenbrenner became apoplectic when Democrats who wanted to hold a hearing on the Patriot Act invoked a little-known rule that required him to let them have one.
"Naturally, he scheduled it for something like 9a.m. on a Friday when Congress wasn't in session, hoping that no one would show," recalls aDemocratic staffer who attended the hearing. "But we got a pretty good turnout anyway."
Sensenbrenner kept trying to gavel the hearing to a close, but Democrats again pointed to the rules, which said they had a certain amount of time to examine their witnesses.

Oh, Jesus Everloving Christ on an Aluminum @!$%#ing Crutch, this is the third whiny post from a right-winger complaining about civility. Would you people get the hell over yourselves??
Memo to the left: the right wing is currently asking, after 30 years of Rush Limbaugh slurs and insults, Ann Coulter, Treason and baseball bats, Glenn Beck's lie-tastic chalkboard, liberals are all demons, communists, satanists, whatever . . . . the right is now complaining that we're being uncivil to them!!!!!!
Yes, I know! My jaw hit the floor too. I was like "are you f*cking serious?" And I think it must have gone out over the right wing thought police network because on three separate threads today from three different people I have within minutes of one another encountered this "civility" meme. Almost as if all the eager little wingers gathered around Leader Limbaugh and were given their talking points for today.
Here's the facts, guys. The GOP just utterly blew it for 2012. They are going to go down in greasy flames like a runaway gas tanker. They just voted (by refusing to vote) to gut unemployment benefits for millions of Americans while also saddling the middle class with a sizeable tax increase.
They are spinning so fast they're generating electricity, guys. And the only thing they can think to do to squelch criticism is to suddenly cringe like a bunch of spineless worms and complain that people are being mean and uncivil to them. This is what they do when their arrogant tough talk has suddenly blown up in their face. They whine about civility.
Isn't it just astonishing?

This is what they do when their arrogant tough talk has suddenly blown up in their face. They whine about civility.
spineless worms? - Did you happen to notice how your long winded rant was nothing more than a whine of being called out on the same thing some on the left somplain about?

Actually Mountainmike, I can recall (presumably) democrats calling Bush's wife a drunken murderer.
I'd personally not call ms. Obama a hypocrite for her ass (no matter what the size). That is tacky and rude.
However I would call her a hypocrite for her “Don’t go into corporate America. You know, become teachers. Work for the community." after she pulls in a six figure salary as a "diversity officer." and lawyer.

It was not toward Michelle - It was toward another person he was talking to on the phone about Michelle-
He did what many people have done in the past - Talk about someone - He just happened to have a "democratic operative" who overheard his conversation- He did not make the remark to a reporter right? I guess to some he is the only person ever to make a remark about others in a private conversation-

I'd say it is rude. But then I don't think anybody goes through life without occasionally being rude.

Bad: How about just a salary they can actually live on and the right to file collectively for better treatment, better work conditions, and better compensation? Well, since you wanna get all apologetic, let's check the facts of this article real quick, shall we??
Michelle Obama had better watch her behind - quite literally - as she seems to have found herself an enemy in Republican Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner.
The Wisconsin governor was allegedly heard talking very loudly on his cell phone about the First Lady's posterior, which he described as 'large'.
Anyone know who the Governor of Wisconsin is?
It ain't Jim Sensebrenner - but no one seems to have caught that, now, have they?
Scott Walker is the Governor of Wisconsin.

we all caught it, we were just willing to use the full definition of the word, realizing it was a lower-case "g" in "governor" meaning it was not the proper noun "Governor" denoting the actual office holder. Rather, the author meant it in the "member of governing body" sense.
let's check the facts of this article real quick, shall we??
yes, let's:
gov·er·nor (gvr-nr)
n.
1. Abbr. Gov. A person who governs, especially:
a. The chief executive of a state in the United States.
b. An official appointed to govern a colony or territory.
c. A member of a governing body.

He even had some words of advice for Mrs Obama to get rid of said 'large posterior', and that was to practice what she preaches

For him to be so interested in her butt tells me he doesn't have enough to do. What about working to get the tax break accomplished, oh worthless Representative? Actually she has done much to get support group homes to help them integrate back into society. Helped rebuild some personal homes. Just ONE was if you saw the Extreme home makeover show. She helped them build a home that helped single women who had left the armed forced find jobs, have a place to live with their kids, and since then, she has helped support that home with money, visits, and helped them open several other homes across the US. So much for her not helping at all.

She hasn't done ANYTHING for the Military and their Families, Lynn. Nothing at all - She has made a public announcement that they will be a "major focus" of her time in office. An ANNOUNCEMENT - and that was TODAY.
And in this holiday season, they have decorated the White House with trees honoring Blue Star and Gold Star families
Ah yes, that helps the Military and the Military Families. Decorating a tree. Got it.
Let's ask ourselves, "How can I give back? How can my family serve them as well as they've served us?"

Rahlly, she showed up on the day of the reveal. She didn't do anything except show up. The Local Community built that house. It was over 100 degrees the day of the reveal - she sat in the A/C on the Bus while the community finished working on that house (read the news about it, people were fainting from exhaustion).
And that is the ONLY Jubilee house. There are no "other homes across the US".

The sad thing about First Lady Obama is she doesn't realize that many people would eat healthier if they could afford to. Fresh vegetables and fruits cost more than pasta etc. Sure many parents allow their kids potato chips etc but if they could buy veggies and fruits cheaper I believe they would. There are more people in the poverty bracket now than it past history. People in poverty can't buy healthy food.
Maybe we should let the water back to the San Joaquin valley so we can grow more vegetables and fruits in the US. Lets see on one hand we have a small fish - The Delta Smelt (in MI we call this a minnow and we use them for bait) and on the other hand we have farmers whose plants and trees are dying and has unemployment over 30%. See the sport fishermen have complained about the water being diverted to the valley since it inhibits the delta smelt to get to the tributaries - the Delta Smelt are fodder for the bigger fish the sport fishermen want to snag. What I don't understand is why they can't come up with a sieve to put over the pipes that will all the water to go to the valley but keep the smelt where they need to be.
Another thing, when she began her war on childhood obesity she embarassed her own daughter by telling the Nation she was overweight. Could have done a better job on that one.
I will give her props for growing her own garden at the White House however, how many people did that feed. The San Joaquin valley would provide a whole lot more and the usually the larger the supply the lower the cost.
- 3 votes
The sad thing about First Lady Obama is she doesn't realize that many people would eat healthier if they could afford to.
If you would have spent half the effort you put into this one post listening to Mrs. Obama and reading non-biased articles on her initiative, then you might not have just shoved your foot so far down your throat.
Sure many parents allow their kids potato chips etc but if they could buy veggies and fruits cheaper I believe they would.
Since most foods are priced by weight, it is pretty silly of you to argue that chips are cheaper than veggies and fruits. Maybe it's less about cost, and more about availability in certain places?
There are more people in the poverty bracket now than it past history. People in poverty can't buy healthy food.
Wrong again, some people in poverty can't afford to live near the grocery stores so they are left with the "convinient mart" or fast food.
Maybe we should let the water back to the San Joaquin valley so we can grow more vegetables and fruits in the US.
If there were a food shortage problem then sure, but since there isn't your argument is irrelevant. The Whitehouse garden is symbolic, it is to encourage those who don't have access to fresh fruits and vegetables to grow their own. Your post is full of lies and half truths with plenty of plugs for farmers in the San Joaquin valley, dare I assume that you consider yourself a "conservative" farmer in California? Nothing in your post is relevant to the seed, or reality for that matter.
- 6 votes
I think fruits and vegetables tend to be cheaper than junk food. At least that is my shopping experience.
- 2 votes
Actually, Mrs. Obama has supported better, fresher, healthier foods in school. She encourages people to apply for SNAP which will help them buy healthier food. She has started her own veggie garden to encourage others to do so to. She supports community gardens for low income areas.
She has done so much to try to get people to eat healthier and show they how they can afford it that your post is just ridiculous.
- 7 votes
@ farmgirl, not necessarily
On my track team I work with kids from all different walks of life. The kids eating habits are habitual. The ones who eat frozen pizzas and chicken nuggets still choose that off the Menu @ Ryan's even when the meal is free. If their mother normally fries chicken (chicken is one of the least expensive meats to buy), then they will choose fried chicken over baked. They will choose corn and mashed potatoes to go with it, vs choosing a green vegetable. (canned corn and canned green beans cost the same...)
In college we had a $30 a day meal budget (I ran track). On a 3 day trip, that is $90. With that much money, those who had bad eating habits still bought those types of food even with more than enough money to be able to make healthier choices...

Magnoliave, I have to agree with you on this one, but he has demonstrated his crudeness and lack of decorum. He needs to shut-up and do his job, unless his job is self appointed ass police. He is obviously an asshat, but ass police? I don't think so!

lack of decorum
Really? Talking on the phone to someone?
I'd say there is more lack of decorum in repeating an overheard conversation.

I pass -------- I think she has a nice butt and I say, "good for her"!

I'd say she has an above average ass for a 47 year old.
But in a dress it is hard to say how much is her, and how much is due to the wonder of modern undergarment technology.

Of all the Republican a**holes (their "99%"), Sensenbrenner might be the Top A. I guess it's a good thing these sleazebags can't keep their idiot mouths shut since it lets everyone know.

Well, it's his *opinion*, although Mrs. Obama is far more prettier and in good shape compared to Mr. Sensenbrenner himself. He's the one with the *large posterior*, so I'm guessing he's just attacking the First Lady due that she is indeed in good shape while he is not.

The sad thing about First Lady Obama is she doesn't realize that many people would eat healthier if they could afford to. Fresh vegetables and fruits cost more than pasta etc.
She does realize that:

And I think that the "skinny guy with the funny name", Barack Obama, likes her arse just fine! I think her children are ok with it too. They are all that matters- correct?

Personally, I'd like to see Mr. Sensenbrenner say this to the First Lady's face. Or better yet, the President's...in a private session with no cameras or witnesses. Bet he'd come out of the room staggering...and it wouldn't be because he and The Man had a beer, unless maybe he drank it to wash down a fist sandwich.
It's been a long time since I saw a guy's nose do a complete 360 around his head after he got his stupid face slapped.
And anyway, an attractive woman with some "junk in the trunk" is a problem...how?

If it came to that he better hope it is the Pres he faces. I think Michelle could do some serious but well deserved damage.

@Fla Pat,
Yeah, Mrs. Obama looks like she's capable of serving up a hefty slice of beat-down on her own.
