Definitely, to hate is easier. Human beings seem to find it far easier to be negative than positive which means hating than loving. They tend to be embarrassed by love and nurturing, by reaching out to others, being generous, kind or encouraging.
Instead, being superior, judgemental, critical and detached seem far easier to do and much more comfortable. It comes from wanting to feel significant, to be 'somebody' and mistakenly believing that one has to put others down to get that significance. Rather sad, sometimes, to see its manifestations, but I guess a lack of self love and low esteem have a lot to answer for.
Learning to love stems from loving the self. We have to start with ourselves before we can give to anyone else. If we don't love ourselves, and loathe our bodies, how do we possibly learn to love others? We will only hate them as much as we loathe ourselves too because we tend to project on to others the way we feel and hate them for it!
