The inimitable Bob Marley.
SourceThere have been so many singers, both local and International, it would be a difficult choice to choose just one for all time. Styles are so different too, and the actual age dictates the content of the songs and the genre of the music.
However, three artists come to mind immediately according to how often I have listened to them: Sam Cooke, from the distant past, Bob Marley for his songs of struggle and life, and Lionel Ritchie for his soulful romantic ballads. Three varied artistes who were at the top if their art and internationally known and very difficult to compare too, but whose songs transported me to a different world whenever I listened to them.
After much agonising, I have settled for Bob Marley because, being originally from Jamaica, I understood his songs completely, I identified with their words and I was moved by their message. He was one hell of a singer who changed an awful lot of perspectives in the process. He really made that difference worldwide and, for me, Redemption Song is the best song ever.
