I thought I would share this heartwarming story with my readers because it demonstrated to me how powerful praise, value and appreciation can be.

I had to go to the doctor yesterday and at the end of our discussion he suddenly said: "I saw you walking towards your flat last week. I was driving with my daughter and I pointed to you and told her, 'That lady is my star patient and I am so proud of her' !"

I am used to getting praises every day but to have such a compliment from my doctor, when I least expected it, was simply awesome. I felt like skipping around when I heard it. To think that he thought so highly of me to comment to his family. I asked him what I was dressed in, and when he said 'a mini skirt', it brought the day back to mind. I was heading out on a date, which was wonderful but he wasn't quite my type, and was feeling fantastic. I have taken some pictures in the outfit here.

But his compliment reminded me how important it was to appreciate others, especially family and friends; to affirm and reinforce them because we often take them for granted. Surprise someone with a compliment or word of praise today. It could be the only reinforcement they get in a while! My doctor certainly made my day in a most unexpected way.

On Good News Wednesday, I would like to thank you for being there, for visiting my column and for valuing me enough to read my posts. I hope your day is magical! :o)

So funny because I did not get to this article till now (CST around noon) and I gave one of my close friends a compliment this morning...this was the conversation:

Me: Oh happy day

Friend: If you say so

Me: Every day that I'm alive and I get to talk to you is a great day

Of course he thought I was lying but reaffirmed to him that I was not. Since I finally got to your article I will have to compliment someone else later today. Thanks Ms. C.

What a great sentiment, Santino, and every word a winner! He might still act nonchalant, but he'll treasure it. :o)

Your uplifting article has inspired me to this:

I won't settle for the usual "blah blah blah" I hear in my head when my manager speaks. Instead, I will strive to make it a more melodic "la la la".

My goodness! That's a compliment indeed, if you would come all the way over to l'il ole Blighty for me. But wait! You seem to be very popular already with all those fine ladies on your column who would mis you. So how would you manage the journey without them noticing you? Seems that you have your hands full already on the Vine..LOL

Thanks for the lovely compliment, truly. Coming from a great guy as you, it is doubly appreciated! :o)

LOL..Spikegary! So that's the secret communication code, is it?

Wow...we learn something every day on the Vine!

But being a princess, Spike, I wouldn't join a harem. Would prefer to wait for my true prince. Have you got a title and a castle? :o)

A smile. A Good-morning or evening. A name if remembered.

Every day. Every time.

A moment of recognition to those the least amongst us.

Not only will you raise the spirit of those who are often left out -- it is easy to smile and recognize a well dressed man or woman -- but your own self worth will be on sound foundation.

bless,

I love that, JubalUSA, though one would hope that it would be extended to everyone, not just the well dressed ones..:o)

Those who are invisible to us; those whom we pass by daily without acknowledgement; those are the folks I speak to and with.

One can barely imagine how good it makes them feel. Possibly the first time in ever so long that anyone addressed them, much less to remember their names, and each of us has the power to make it happen and at so little cost to us.

As for the well dressed person; there are plenty of wandering eyes to satisfy even the most self centered of us.

Everyone seeks just a little recognition and appreciation for what they do or for just being there. So "don't be stingy, baby"* with the compliments -- hand them out at least weekly. I am overdo for some complimenting; I handed one out at a place I frequently eat at, I gave the compliment to one of the chefs, and boy was he pleased that I took a moment to show some appreciation.

I can believe that Minnie, because to the public he would just be a chef doing his job, but you showed him personal appreciation. That would have been of great value to him.

And thank YOU for being there, dear friend..:o)
