Way back when I was a youngster, the cowboys who ruled the roost were John Wayne, Alan Ladd and Gary Cooper. You can always bet your last penny that you would see one of them riding into town, being the great superhero, rescuing the fair maiden and riding off with her into the sunset. However, I didn't really like westerns until I saw my three chosen three films. They were all different but very entertaining.

Westerns reminded us of the how it used to be, every man for himself with lots of aggression and bullying. Luckily our modern day isn't like that...or is it?? Mmmm...food for thought there.

The series that had the most effect upon me, that I would see over and over, were the spaghetti westerns (A Fistful of Dollars etc.) with Clint Eastwood. Amazing films they were, that kept one mesmerised.
