PBS will host two of the four debates this presidential cycle, with Jim Lehrer hosting the first Presidential debate and Gwen Ifill hosting the only Vice Presidential debate, it was announced Tuesday. NBC's Tom Brokaw and CBS' Bob Schieffer will host the remaining two Presidential debates.
Gosh, a black face - and a woman!- leading a presidential debate! What is America coming to? I will soon be upping sticks and going there to live!!
Thanks for reminding me about her, Bill. We do get smarter on the Vine..:o)
Great picks.
Thanks, Roy. Nice of you to drop by.
Ms. C I just hope Gwen does a better job than that hack Carole Simpson. I think she will.
YEAH PBS involvement in the debates. This is great news.
Cool, no ABC. >:)
All of the above,...Things are starting to change. This will be exciting and important.
ABC News is noticeably left without a debate, perhaps a response to what many perceived as a "Gotcha!"-style debate hosted by Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos
Great for Obama! I didn't like either of them before that POS, and the sideshow 'debate' ABC and those two clowns put on was really garbage. That kind of behavior cannot be rewarded!
MTH - is it "gotcha" when Obama is forced out of his comfort zone and asked about his associations? Imho that is just not done enough. I expect both candidates to face hard hitting questions in all debates. Let's see what we get. My expectations are extremely high.
Charlie Gibson is not Mike Wallace, he's too much of a douchebag. I don't know what you saw of the debate, but it was shallow and self-serving even by network-news standards. Hard-hitting questions are OK, but loaded nonsense like the questions at that so-called debate were a total waste of time.
"Do you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you?"
Obama handled the debate with grace and dignity, or as much as can be afforded when the audience starts booing the moderators. Apparently folks were streaming out of the debate as it dragged on.
loaded nonsense.... Well, I did see it on ABC, and it was overflowing with bias AND nonsense. Obama was consistently trying to revisit the issues and Gibson kept going right back to the nonsense. I am not adverse to tough questions, but make no mistake, that whole situation was despicable. Any guesses who might be doing a little whining now?
